Random deep thoughts...

What's new about that...

- Reading old letters from high school the other day, I was amazed at how relationships with people change. I had a ton of letters from a friend in Deerfield that apparently I was pretty close with, I just can't quite remember her face... There were letters from my darling Linz, who if I had a car and had gone to AA more often in college, probably would not have gotten quite so distant... I miss her tons. In one of her letters she wondered if we'd still be best friends in 20 years... Notes and cards from my Mouse and one from Janet(ta)... A few from a couple camp friends. Made me think back to little Sam and whatever happened to him. It made me want to sit down and write letters to all of these people that I've slowly lost contact with through the years.

-I was listening to the classical music station at work yesterday and started to think about music I like. I've decided that if it's a nice, calm solo piano or guitar piece, I'll listen. Next in line is really any sort of mellow, soothing music. Preferably string or low register reed/french horn. Though some triumphant Beethoven or Tchaikovsky every once in awhile is wonderful, I'm probably much more likely to curl up to some Vivaldi or Chopin nocturns... Interesting how that carries over to my non-classical music tendancies. Give me a guy with a guitar and I'm in heaven. Other than that the mellow, sometimes slightly depressing singers are wonderful; Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and James Taylor fit the bill there. I do love my swing and old jazz. Eagles, Billy Joel, Elton John are always relaxing. And every once in awhile, mostly when I was working in the shop all the time, some loud emo-punk is great. There's nothing better than releasing the stress of classes with a large saw and some Good Charlotte or Simple Plan (which is also great for running...)

-Just amusing: On my drive home today I saw a mom pushing a stroller with a kid in a Winnie-the-Pooh costume. I couldn't help but giggle the rest of the way home.
