"Shame of all nations, What seeds do we plant in an infant's mind?"

Sometimes my home town really frustrates me with how narrow-minded the people are. The big Friday night football game against the high schools biggest rival was moved to Thursday because of Rosh Hashanah. I actually started to get really disgusted with my boss when talking about this. He thought it stupid that they had to move the football game for the Jews (our town is mostly Christian, but there are still some Jews in town). I brought up the point that as Christians we get Christmas and Easter set aside nationaly, why can we not move things for a Jewish Holiday, that doesn't interfere with the work week at all? Besides, Christianity comes from Judaism. Shouldn't we have some sort of respect and reverance for it? Of course, I like to call myself the "Jewish Christian" as my church follows the old feasts and old laws. I also grew up in a mostly Jewish community. When the High Holy Days came around, there was no surprise to find everything closed and nothing going on in town.

I guess it really depends on the community. We did the same sort of thing in evanston, which has a small, but vocal Jewish community. The only time when such a thing can become a problem is when the minority voice begins to trump the majority voice, and that is somewhat skewed.
