Probably the last, but I wanted to get some last thoughts, comments, replies out of my head and into the void.
As far as the "religion" thing goes, a friend suggested "belief system" which I feel fits it better.
I think one of my biggest issues with Universism is something that I find myself struggling with in my own life, other religions (including some denominations of Christianity) and in society today, and that is selfishness. All of the questions that Universists ask are focused on themselves. Which, yes, it is important to know who you are and how your beliefs define you, but how shallow is it to find, or change a religion to fit your prefered lifestyle.
As mentioned in the comments of a previous post, Christians are warned that we will struggle and this is what will strengthen our faith in God and bring us closer of Him. Everyone today is searching for the religion, faith, church, moral code that will fit their desired lifestyle and make them feel good about themselves without having to work for anything. The reason one should adopt a set of beliefs is because it gives them somthing to work for. It is a truth that pulls them towards it, possibly without them having any clue why, that gives them peace and makes them willing to change their ways.
Not meaning to sermonize. Just some final thoughts. Feel free to comment, as usual.
Now to numbing my mind with making mix CD's and "Chasing Liberty"...

Please don't mistake tolerance for selfishness. Out of respect for others' freedom we must only think what OUR part is in equation with them, not what the meaning of THEIR lives is (and so on). Universism doesn't ban nor promote selfishness.
What I am trying to bring up with the selfishenss, that wasn't well articulated in the post, is that so many people are into the "make your own religion so you can feel good with how you are and not have to change" attitude. It is a problem with society today. Everyone wants to feel good about what they are doing and how they are living their lives so they work things around to fit that. So, I guess it's not a "think of no one but myself and how this will help me" selfishness that bothers me, but a "yeah I'll believe it and follow it if I can just get around the parts that will stop me from having fun and doing things I like with my life."
Does that make better/more sense?
