fun and games at one a.m.
So, around 11:30 I decide I'm hungry for pizza. Nate gets me a frozen pizza, and I finally get around to putting it in the oven at about 12:35. Ten minutes later, I pull it out of the oven, and what do you know, the damn heat detector in the kitchen goes off resulting in lots of flashy lights and loud noise. I find the only other person in the house at the time to let her know all is well, call the Dow and let them know all is well. Still, we don't know how to turn off the silly thing. So, security appears. We stand outside for about five minutes waiting for the fire department to show up. They come, we bring them up through the kitchen and down to the panel in the basement (pointing out the offending instrument of safety that is just a nuisance). They reset the panel and we head back upstairs so the fireman can check placement of detectors. As we get up from the basement, who do you think is there in the hall, but our own dear President Arnn. It's one in the morning and we have a wonderful little party of one security guy, one fireman (the other two were already outside), two college girls in their pajamas, and one college president. And all I wanted was some cheese pizza for a midnight snack.
The main thing is that this is not the first time it has happened. Anytime we use the oven we need to be careful because the silly heat detector is right where the draft of hot air comes out of the oven. I had just forgotten this fact when taking out my pizza. So, now I'm more awake and should be doing homework, but I'm not. I have class at eight in the morning, too. Ugh. The pizza tastes quite good, though!
