More great lines from a play, this time from Calderone's Life is a dream.
Segismundo: ...if I have wondered at one thing I've seen here in this world, it is the beauty of a woman. Once I read in books I had that God devoted most attention to creating man, who is a little world; but I suspect it was to the creation of woman, for she is a little Heaven, and exceeds man's beauty by an astronomical amount.
-and-
Segismundo: ...For we are in a world so very strange that life is but a dream; experience has taught me that each man who draws a breath dreams what he is until he wakes in death... What is life? A frenzy. What is life? A shadow, an illusion, and a sham. The greatest good is small; all life, it seems, is just a dream, and even dreams are dreams.
