This is for all my friends down south, especially those in Georgia who have recently gloated about their 70-degree weather.
As much as I hate the cold and snow, it really is quite beautiful. Here is a list of te beauties of snow and winter:
- Watching the exhaust of the car in front of you as it speeds up. It's almost like pale blue flames dancing on the wind
- The wind taking the powdery top layer of snow and dancing it across the highway
- Headlights from oncoming traffic flashing between the metal staves of the guard rail and being reflected on the icey pavement. It looks like fire falling from the sky, hitting the pavement.
- Icicles that have frozen on a slant because of the wind
- Coming inside to a warm bowl of soup (chicken and dumplings or spring onion) after being out in a wind that bites through however many layers you have been wearing
- Sitting inside by a fireplace with your sister and some sewing while watching a wonderful chick flick while the wind wails outside, causing the bushes the slap their brittle branches against the window panes
- Beautiful tombstones and gorgeous statues in the local cemetary sleeping quietly under their warm, thick blanket of snow
- The feel of soft fur from the collar of your coat tickling your ears as you pull it closer and scrunch down against the wind
- The reflection of a large, full moon shimmering on the sparkly white surface below it
- Tiny sparkling formations of frost on windows
- The silence that creeps in everywhere and makes all peaceful and comfortably warm at night
